After more than a decade away, Metallica have finally returned to Australian soil, launching their long-awaited M72 World Tour in Perth on November 1, 2025. The band played to 60,000 roaring fans at Optus Stadium, marking their first trip to Australia since headlining the 2013 Soundwave Festival.
Originally planned for 2019 alongside Slipknot before being cancelled, Metallica’s Australian comeback has been years in the making. This time, they’ve brought along heavyweights Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies, the latter featuring Robert Trujillo’s son, Tye Trujillo, on bass, following in his father’s legendary footsteps.
Following Perth’s explosive opening night, the metal titans are set to dominate stadiums across the country before wrapping up in New Zealand.
